You may already communicate extremely well in familiar situations but find that certain circumstances require something different: greater concision, stronger executive presence, more flexibility under pressure, a different approach to pushback, or greater adaptability with people who think and communicate very differently than you do.

Because the tools are behavioral and adaptable, you can work at your own level. The same technique might help one person build a brand-new skill while helping someone else make a small adjustment that significantly increases their impact.

And the Implementation Labs make this particularly valuable for experienced professionals. You can experiment with subtle changes, get expert feedback, and practice applying familiar skills in unfamiliar situations rather than simply learning more information.

No. Presentations and public speaking are part of the Lab, but most leadership communication happens long before anyone steps onto a stage.

We work on the communication behaviors you use in meetings, difficult conversations, feedback, networking, spontaneous questions, stakeholder discussions, interviews, and other everyday professional interactions where clarity, influence, and presence matter.

You'll also strengthen vocal and physical presence, organize your thinking more quickly, and learn to adapt your communication when the situation or audience changes.

The goal is to help you communicate more effectively wherever your expertise and leadership need to come through, whether you're speaking to one person, ten people, or a room of hundreds.

You can expect to communicate with greater clarity, flexibility, and influence, with a broader range of tools you can draw on when the stakes are high.

Over the course of the year, you'll strengthen your ability to organize and communicate complex ideas, speak with greater vocal and physical presence, adapt to different audiences, navigate pushback and difficult conversations, and stay more effective when you're under pressure or don't have time to prepare.

Just as importantly, you'll have repeated opportunities to practice these skills until they become easier to access naturally, instead of techniques you understand intellectually but forget to use when you actually need them.

The Lab is designed to be drop-in friendly. Come to live sessions when you can, and use the content library, replays, and Community Forum when you can't. The resources and ongoing practice opportunities make it easy to keep learning even when your schedule gets complicated.

Learning Labs are about learning. Each month, we'll explore a focused Leadership Communication or Executive Presence topic, introduce practical tools, and use interactive exercises to help you understand and experience how they work.

Implementation Labs are about doing. Rather than adding more information, we'll practice skills from current and previous Learning Labs through games, activities, practice conversations, and real-world scenarios. You'll get feedback, make adjustments, and try again.

That distinction is intentional. Understanding a communication technique is useful. Being able to access it naturally in a high-stakes moment is a different skill. Implementation Labs are where knowing what to do starts becoming the ability to access and use the skill under a variety of circumstances.

Your two private sessions give us a chance to focus specifically on you: how you currently communicate, where you want to grow, and which Leadership Communication and Executive Presence behaviors will make the biggest difference for your goals.

We'll look at your individual patterns across areas such as voice, physical presence, language, clarity, and communication under pressure. From there, we'll identify specific strengths to build on, behaviors to strengthen, and Lab resources that are particularly relevant to you.

These sessions can also be used to work through a real communication challenge, prepare for an important professional moment, or get focused feedback on a skill you're actively developing.

Think of the group Lab as your ongoing learning and practice environment, with the private sessions giving you two opportunities to zoom in on exactly what you need.

That is intentional. Learning the tools matters, but skilled feedback becomes even more important when you're practicing and applying them. Communication patterns can be subtle, and an experienced eye and ear can spot small behaviors, identify what's getting in the way, and help you make adjustments in the moment.

You won't learn from me in one session and then be handed off to an associate for practice. I'm there for the learning, the repetition, the feedback, and the real-world application.

The Prism Leadership Lab is designed for busy professionals, and almost no one makes every live session. The year-long format gives you plenty of opportunities to learn, practice, and stay engaged even when work, travel, or life gets in the way.

You'll have access to Learning Lab replays, extensive on-demand resources, the private online community, and occasional pop-up sessions for additional review and Q&A. Implementation Labs also draw on tools from throughout the year, not just that month's Learning Lab, so skills and concepts keep coming back into the room. Missing one meeting doesn't mean you've missed your chance to learn, practice, or get feedback on an important skill.

Come when you can. Use the resources that are most useful to you. The goal is meaningful, sustainable development without creating another source of unnecessary pressure.

Plan on 1.5 to 3 hours a month when you have the time, and 0 hours when you don't. 

The Prism Leadership Lab is intentionally drop-in friendly. Live Learning Labs and Implementation Labs are each 90 minutes, and you can attend either or both. You can even miss a Learning Lab and still attend that month's Implementation Lab. Because Implementation Labs draw from skills across the entire program, you'll still be able to participate, practice, and benefit from the experience.

There is no required homework or preparation between sessions. If you miss a Learning Lab, you can watch the replay or use the on-demand content when it works for your schedule. Or simply come back when you have more capacity.

The real application happens in the work you're already doing: meetings, presentations, difficult conversations, networking, stakeholder interactions, and everyday leadership moments.

You can certainly spend additional time exploring the content library, asking questions in the Community Forum, or revisiting a skill you want to strengthen. But you don't need to consume everything to benefit.

The goal is to make your professional communication easier and more effective, not give you another curriculum to manage.

Most professional development gives you more information. The Prism Leadership Lab is designed to help you change what you can actually do. 

Many leadership communication programs are built around identifying personality types or communication-style preferences and then teaching you to understand the differences. Those models can provide useful insight. The Prism Leadership Lab takes a different approach: we build core behavioral strengths you can adapt across communication styles, personalities, and neurodiversity.

Instead of needing to diagnose the person in front of you, you develop a broader range of communication behaviors and learn how to adjust them based on what you're observing in the moment.

You'll absolutely learn new ideas, frameworks, and techniques. But understanding a communication skill and being able to use it naturally when you're under pressure are two very different things. That's why the Prism Leadership Lab combines interactive learning with repeated practice, individualized expert feedback, and opportunities to apply the same skills across different situations throughout the year.

The content also draws from a broad range of disciplines. We combine Leadership Communication and Executive Presence with neuroscience, physiology, psychology, social science, voice and speech training, and performance techniques. That lets us work with what you say and do, how other people experience it, and the responses those behaviors can create.

And because this happens over a full year, you have time to experiment with small changes, notice what works, get feedback, practice again, and gradually make new behaviors your own.

The goal isn't to leave you knowing more about communication. It's to help you become more skillful at communicating when it actually matters.

Toastmasters and the Prism Leadership Lab both provide opportunities to strengthen communication skills, but they use very different learning models. 

Toastmasters is built around a peer-led club structure with its roots in public speaking. Members practice through activities such as prepared speeches, meeting roles, and feedback from other members. The Prism Leadership Lab is an expert-led development program focused on building Leadership Communication and Executive Presence behaviors you can apply across a wide range of professional situations.

One of the biggest differences is the feedback. Peer feedback can only be as specific, practical, and accurate as the experience and skill of the person giving it. In a peer-to-peer model, that can vary from person to person, meeting to meeting, and club to club. You may receive an exceptionally useful observation one week and feedback that is less relevant to what you actually need the next.

In the Prism Leadership Lab, every Learning Lab and Implementation Lab is personally led by me. With more than 25 years of experience testing and working with communication behavior, I know the specific, sometimes barely noticeable, behaviors to watch and listen for. I can identify subtle patterns, look beyond the obvious symptom to what may actually be creating it, and give you a more useful adjustment to immediately practice and refine.

The Lab also goes well beyond prepared speaking. You'll work on meetings, difficult conversations, feedback, stakeholder interactions, unexpected questions, presentations, and other high-stakes professional moments.
